The Rev. Alexander Gunthorpes was born to
Charles and Sarah Gunthorpes in the village of Bolans in the Parish of St.
Mary’s on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Antigua.
achieved his early education at the Bolans Government School. In June 1965,
Alexander Gunthorpes successfully completed the Post Primary School Leaving
Examination and was awarded a scholarship to Jennings Secondary School to
prepare for the General Certificate of Education Examination. Upon his
successful completion of the GCE preparation, Mr. Gunthorpes was employed as a
teacher by the Government of Antigua. He taught from September 1968 until June
1972 at the Bolans and Jennings Primary School.
In September 1972, Mr. Gunthorpes was accepted at Codrington College in Barbados West Indies as a candidate for the Sacred Ministry. In June 1975, he graduated with a Licentiate in Theology from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma in Theological Studies from Codrington College.
