The Rev. Alexander Gunthorpes was born to Charles and Sarah Gunthorpes in the village of Bolans in the Parish of St. Mary’s on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Antigua.

He achieved his early education at the Bolans Government School. In June 1965, Alexander Gunthorpes successfully completed the Post Primary School Leaving Examination and was awarded a scholarship to Jennings Secondary School to prepare for the General Certificate of Education Examination. Upon his successful completion of the GCE preparation, Mr. Gunthorpes was employed as a teacher by the Government of Antigua. He taught from September 1968 until June 1972 at the Bolans and Jennings Primary School.

In September 1972, Mr. Gunthorpes was accepted at Codrington College in Barbados West Indies as a candidate for the Sacred Ministry. In June 1975, he graduated with a Licentiate in Theology from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma in Theological Studies from Codrington College.

In August 1984, the Rev. Alexander Gunthorpes migrated to the United States to further his studies. Presently, Rev. Gunthorpes is the Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. He has been serving the small congregation for over twenty years.

The Rev. Alexander Gunthorpes is very impressed with the work the staff and volunteers of the Coalition of Concerned Medical Profession have done, is still doing and will continue to do for our less fortunate sisters and brothers. Those dedicated workers have identified needs and whenever it is possible without hesitation or discrimination lend a helping hand. It is my conviction that CCMP is one of the few not for profit organizations that is truly dedicated to be of service to the needy.

I am honored yet humbled to be invited to serve on the board and I am committed to do whatever I can to insure that this unique organization goes from strength to strength.
